Another Taylor Jenkins Reid masterpiece
This book has hit me in many different ways, since of its beginning.
This is a history about three individuals whose lives were crossed since high school and about how we can change without even noticing.
Emma, in her happy life with Jesse, just before he went on that fatal trip, was already thinking about their life and how she would like to change it a little bit from that time.
And then her life just turned upside down and she was, not knowing yet, grieving not only the miss of Jesse, but the old life she was used to have with her one true love
After a long time, she let herself live again, but never forgetting about Jesse, and met Sam again, a old friend from the teenage days, starting a beautiful relationship with him, living in a way she never thought se would love, but she does.
And again, her world turns upside down with the coming back of Jesse, wanting the life they had years ago back.
Jesse isn't the same, but he wants to pretend he is, even with Emma, who isn't the same too.
The conflict of living with the one you always thought was your only true love a life you don't fell like yours anymore, or living the new phase, with a person you love as much as you love the lifestyle you built.
I guess, in my perspective, that this is a conflict everyone has once in a lifetime, cause it's hard to see the border of your old and the new version of yourself, and it's totally comprehensive having this kinda struggle.
For Emma, this decision ? that wasn't even a decision, she knew what to do since Jesse returned ? was the game changer of her life and her future.
Jesse and Emma had to face the fact that they would always love each other, but they changed so much that the life they once had was not theirs anymore.
From that, the "before and after" view was cristal clear and they could finally have a happy pure life, never forgetting their past, but awalys reaching for the future.
As I said, this book hit exactly where it has to, and it's, 100% life changing, cause I'm sure I'll take what the history of them taught me for life. Couldn't expect less than this from Taylor.
