Gatsby's lession
Context: The book is narrated by Nick, a melancholic and solitary character, a rich man, that joined the glamours society of his day, and met Gatsby, a powerful, mysterious and famous man. Gatsby had a love in his past, and like a kind hearted gangster, his Achilles heel was exposed by his old lover.
My opinion: The book is extraordinary by Fitzgerald excellent writing and character building, you'll know that Nick is envious and admires Gatsby, as well as his lies about his intelligence and moral behaviour in not involving himself in other peoples business. Gatsby has the spotlight, it's for him that the book is focused about , and Nick evolves into a ever present member of the cast but always in the outside of the plot. The mystery about Gatsby is revealed with "the truth" (i don't believe), by what, and who attracted the reserved Jay to risk a lot for an women. Daisy is too much for him, but the heart don't choose whom to love, and the young, poor James Gatsby was enthralled by his dream. I believed she would have been better with Gatsby, until i saw her egoism, her vanity and materialism. Gatsby loved and loved her honestly, loved the facade of a persona, and i love him for it, no rugged, no egoism, just love. He delivered everything for a fantasy. It's sad, but a dream can kill and the american dream can kill a million times more, and destroyed the Great Gatsby.
Favorite Quote: ""They're a rotten crowd" I shouted across the lawn. "You're worth the whole damn bunch put together"". (The great Gatsby, p. 154).
