An interesting story, written in a way that may be difficult for non-native English speakers to understand. So some subtleties may have escaped my grasp. From what I had read about the novel, I thought it would dwell more on the relationship between Billy Budd and Claggart. Their interactions seemed very brief to me, not justifying the 'controversy', if there ever was one, that surrounds the tale. Even so, it was a very enjoyable read, the prose alone would make it a worthy one.

Precisei ler esse livro pra uma cadeira da faculdade e mesmo tendo menos de 100 páginas, demorei 2 semanas. Não adianta, não consigo gostar da escrita do Herman Melville desde Moby Dick, nem desse cenário marítimo. Foi uma leitura muito enrolada e cansativa, que teve seus picos de desenvolvimento, mas não o suficiente para fluir completamente.
