I really, really liked this book! It had the GREAT stuff, stuff that I didn't even know I liked before reading there. Lucy and Josh are both very charismatic characters who I just wanted to protect throughout the whole story, so that checks, lol.
One thing that kinda surprised me, though, was how the author wrote the whole 'game' thing into the narrative (yeah, it's in the name but before actually reading the book, I guess I'd just thought that it was a manner of speaking ?), there were actual games (several games, to be specific ? I mean, Lucy, bestie, just chill for a minute ?), which annoyed me a little, tbh, but, once I realized it was gonna be like that, I thought it was gonna end up really cringey and that, imo, did not happen, so, it was definitely a positive point!
To keep this "short", I'm just going to justify not giving it 5 stars already: there was a big portion of the book, in the beginning, that didn't really reel me in right away (like, I had to push myself past that initial bad impression ? which was pretty rewarding!), and I think the main reason for it was the writing. I am no expert, or anything, but a lot of sentences and expressions just felt very out of place and disconnected from the rest of the discourse, so there was that. ?
However, it was a very good read for me! And I'm really glad that I was able to disregard that awkward beginning!! So, if you're into romance novels ? especially the enemies to lovers ones (but with practically touchable hatred involved, I mean) ?, I recommend this one a lot!
