"She is angry at world war itself. She?s furious and assuming that it?s coming.
It is absolutely absurd, but Major Tanya von Degurechaff is indignant about the insane future she?s envisioning, one in which the Empire will be up against the entire world.
?Fine. Come at us, you pigs. Or perhaps I should say?we?ll give you a fight!?
O God? Is this?? Is this what you wanted?""
My friendship with Shiraori ended. Now the sadistic, psychopath, war criminal, Battalion Commander Tanya von Degurechaff is my best friend (just kidding, kumoko will always have the best monologues). But really, I love stories that aren't just dumb jokes and dumb protagonists acting like the author has the intelligence of a 12yo child. I love the references to philosophy and science that appear along with war trivia in the middle (as someone in law school, seeing John Rawls's Justice theory was really cool). All in all, it's a smart book with a complex and serious story that somehow manages to fit some level of humor in the middle of it. Even if you're not the smartest person, you'll still manage to understand the bare minimum (though you'll miss a couple jokes and references here and there). Writing wise, Carlo Zen definitely isn't the best. It's very plain and objective, but even then, he made use of it in such a way that it feels very fitting for this story. Worth a read if it picked your interest.
