What an amazing book!!!
I believe this is a great book. However, I only think so because I studied it in the literature classes I had in university. What I want to say is that I would not have understood how deep this book is if I had not investigated almost every page of it with my professor and friends.
The colors in the book were incredibly important to understanding the subjects F. Scott Fitzgerald wanted to work with, especially the GREEN LIGHT. The green light might have represented Daisy?s love, which the main character, Gatsby, looked forward to achieving. In the T-shirt scene, for example, Gatsby stopped paying much attention to the green light because, at that moment, he had Daisy right next to him. However, the green light could also carry a deeper meaning, which should be the famous AMERICAN DREAM. This is a possible idea because to have Daisy?s love, Gatsby needed to achieve the American Dream first. He could not have her love if he did not become very rich. So, the green light could mean the extension of the American Dream that would only have been complete after being filled with Daisy?s love.
I also would like to leave here my opinion about Gatsby?s actions towards Daisy. He was INSANE. Okay, love is beautiful. Gatsby loved Daisy. Good! However, he always did the GREATEST AND UNHEALTHY things for her. Firstly, he threw very expensive parties so he could have her attention. Secondly, he took the blame for a murderer that was committed by Daisy. What the hell was wrong with this guy? Or Daisy was a hell of a good lover to the point of making Gatsby act like a crazy person, or he was always crazy like that.
Anyways
I loved this book, and again, just because I studied each piece of it. The literature classes made me notice many amazing things in The Great Gatsby. I could write hundreds of lines about it, but I will not today.
