This was very very good. 4.5 stars.
It is a fantasy/historical fiction ya book. This is one of my favorite combinations. It almost always works. This time was no exception. It did. And beautifully.
You hardly see a fantasy book without some power of sorts, but in this case it did not need it, not at all.
I could understand, or more importantly, I could feel the weight of every decision and its motivations. Both sides of the story were "right", freedom should be a right to everyone, and it is more than interesting to see the lenghts people have to go to get it.
I cannot express how much I like strategics, and planning, and plotting, and pretty much everything this book had.
The romance was amazing. Not rushed at all. It made it all more painful how beautiful and right it was, which is like a bonus to this type of story.
My only concern now is: should I read The Winner's Crime now and suffer for The Winner's Kiss for longer or should I wait in order to detain the pain?
